This is how the new Nadal Brut Nature 2017 is introduced—a vintage that takes us back to the origins of a flagship sparkling wine, first created in 1943 under the name Nadal Brut Especial, and now reasserted with the same nobility and pioneering spirit.
The year 2017 was one of contrasts. Autumn and winter rains nourished the vineyard after an intensely warm summer, resulting in an early and selective harvest. At Finca Nadal, Parellada reached its optimal point, developing a fresh, floral expression that defines the soul of this Brut Nature. In contrast to the dominant trend in Penedès—where Xarel·lo and Macabeo usually take center stage—Nadal has spent decades also trusting in the singular potential of this variety.
As winemaker and owner Xavier Nadal points out, “With the new climate reality and shifting market trends, in a few years Parellada will become as important and respected as Xarel·lo or Macabeo.” This conviction is embodied in a bottle born from estate-grown vines, matured in silence for over seven years in the original underground cellar, twenty meters below ground.
