The White Nadal X is among the top four Xarel·los of Penedès and consolidates the successful line of fine white wines of the Torrelavit winery
Torrelavit, 21 November 2016.- The Nadal X 2015 Vermell, with 9.73 points, has been chosen as the best Xarel·lo rosé in this year’s edition of the Guide to Wines of Catalonia, which was presented today in Barcelona. The White Nadal X 2015 (with 9.75 points), has been placed among the four best Xarel·los of Penedès, and consolidates the Nadal line in the production of successful fine white wines.
Nadal committed to the introduction of the Xarel·lo red in the Estate Nadal de la Boadella from 2010, because of climate change. The winery opted for the increase of the hectares of Parellada and white Xarel·lo, the planting of the red Xarel·lo and the reduction of the vines of Macabeo. The first crop of red Xarel·lo for wine was in 2014, with a production of 4,533 bottles of the new single-variety with the Appellation of origin (D.O.) Penedès, which went on sale in April 2015.
The Nadal X 2015 Rosé (10,400 bottles), which the winery qualifies as a “modern and sophisticated white wine” is a complex and innovative single-variety, with the capacity to transmit different layers of aromas and flavours, and with versatility enough to accompany any meal.
Along with the two Xarel·los, the cava Nadal Gran Salvatge Brut Gran Reserva Màgnum (9.71 points), has been placed in the top section (over 9.50 points) of the Guide to Wines of Catalonia 2017. The average grade of the fine white wines of Nadal in the Guide has risen from 9.59 to 9.76 points, as compared to last year.
